Experience the energy of sitting with others, find support and encouragement from like-minded individuals, and learn different present-moment practices such as chair yoga, eating, walking meditation, and more. Refresh your mind and body as you immerse yourself in the present moment in the heart of Birmingham.
Retreat Details
Sunday
8:30am: Check-in, cushion/chair placement.
9:00am: Opening introduction, meditation instruction, & light breakfast snacks.
9:30am: Guided meditation & mindful walking
11:00am: Choice of Tai Chi or Chair Yoga
12:00pm: Meditation/Loving Kindness/ Q & A
1:00pm: Lunch/Eating meditation
2:00pm: Small group discussion
3:00pm: Guided meditation & mindful walking
4:00pm: Group discussion & conclusion
Details
To aid in our meditation, we focus on clean eating with delicious and satisfying vegetarian meals.
Bring your:
- Meditation cushion (Chairs will be available if you prefer to sit in a chair)
- Mat (Zabuton) or folded up blanket to go under your cushion
Don’t have a cushion or mat? Please bring a blanket to fold and have under a cushion. We will have a few extras at the retreat for you to use.
Option: Purchase a cushion and mat before the retreat either at The Golden Temple in Southside or buy a set on Amazon.
*IF you have an extra cushion, mat or meditation bench, please bring it to share with someone who doesn’t have one.

Andrew Keitt has been practicing Zen meditation for thirty years. He is a founding member of the Burning Rock Soto Zen Group in Birmingham, AL.
